WEMA Bank, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, is set to launch a transformative initiative aimed at impacting two million young individuals and one million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide under the FGN-ALAT Digital Skill-Novation Programme.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, commending the commitment and partnership of WEMA Bank, received an update report on the program during a courtesy visit by the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Moruf Oseni.

The program, a joint effort between the Federal Government and WEMA Bank, aims to train and empower 2 million youths and 1 million MSMEs across Nigeria.

Expressing gratitude for the bank’s dedication to the initiative, the Vice President urged them to maintain high standards, acknowledging their role as a commendable organization in this endeavor.

After the meeting, Mr. Moruf Oseni, Managing Director of WEMA Bank, shared: “We’re at the Presidential Villa to brief the Vice President on how far we have gone on the FGN/ALAT project. Vice President was very happy, and shortly you will hear from his office of how we want to progress with this program, part of this is to help create innovation hubs across the country for us.”

He emphasized that President Shettima’s ambitious plan for economic revival aligns with the bank’s commitment to support and contribute positively to Nigeria’s progress.

Mr. Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, underscored the importance of this collaboration in generating employment opportunities for the youth.

Adekunle-Johnson stated, “There is power in partnership. Private sector and the public sector coming together can always do more for the people. Mr. President’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda cannot be achieved by the government or private sector alone as it requires all hands on deck.”

The FGN/ALAT Digital Skill-Novation Program is scheduled for formal launch by the Vice President on September 29, 2023, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. This initiative holds great promise for empowering the youth and driving growth in the MSME sector across the country.
