The MTN Foundation joins forces with the Beeta Universal Arts Foundation to empower young Nigerian playwrights at the recent Beeta Playwright Competition, held on February 7, 2024. This edition, unlike previous years, featured 40 selected candidates competing for the coveted title.

The competition provides a platform for budding playwrights to showcase their literary skills and tell authentic indigenous stories, nurturing emerging talents and promoting dynamic Nigerian writing talent.

Olaide Mohammed, a native of Kwara with roots in Lagos, emerged as the winner of the sixth Beeta Playwright Competition, demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication. She received a host of prizes, including a $3,000 cheque, a laptop, and other valuable rewards.

MTN Foundation’s Executive Director, Odunayo Sanya, underscores the importance of supporting art and culture in Nigeria, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to providing a platform for young talents to thrive.

Founder of Beeta Universal Arts Foundation, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, expresses gratitude to the MTN Foundation for its dedication to the success of the competition. She highlights the benefits for finalists, including becoming part of the Beeta writers network and alumni, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Beeta Arts Festival, fostering lifelong relationships and furthering their careers in the arts.
