Sheevolution Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls in underserved African communities, has announced a successful partnership with Bankly, a lifestyle banking platform. The collaboration marked the launch of the inaugural “Girl Enterprise Day – Economic Empowerment for the African Girl” on November 3, 2023, in honor of the International Day of the Girl Child.
In partnership with Bankly, the event provided microbusiness grants, financial inclusion access, and business funding readiness evaluation for the participating girls. The one-day event included a business masterclass by Tomi Majekodunmi, CEO of Bankly, a panel discussion with accomplished entrepreneurs, and a business pitch competition featuring over 25 girls from underserved communities. Each participant received micro-grants of N60,000 from Bankly to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
Jadesola James-Omitiran, Executive Director of Sheevolution Africa, expressed delight in collaborating with Bankly to inspire and empower the next generation of female entrepreneurs in Africa. Tomi Majekodunmi, CEO of Bankly, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and fostering financial independence among girls.
The “Girl Enterprise Day” aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 8, 10, and 17, contributing to the advancement of these goals by empowering young girls from underserved communities to become economically independent.
